Dear Ms. Rowling,
I absolutely treasure your Harry Potter books. However, the topic of my letter is different from that. I am writing to see if you have taken a position on CCSVI research and testing? I ask because I know you are a strong supporter of MS research, and influential as one of the faces of the cause, so to speak.
As a patient suffering from MS, along with thousands other of us, CCSVI is the most hope we've seen in years. Although we may not be scientists and medical researchers, we as patients have determined that it's worth the risk, for the potential gain of having this procedure done. By now, over 2,000 patients have gotten it, but treatment and research funding for CCSVI are both still scarce. The National MS Society gave a token $2.4M to CCSVI research, after patients, acting as advocates, put pressure on the group.
I know MS is a very personal issue for you. I even heard that the dementors in your books represented MS for you. I totally get where you're coming from.
Here you are two websites in case you are not familiar with the issue: http://csvi-ms.net/en
http://ccsvi.org/
Thank you so much for reading my letter. I hope you decide to use your influence and generous donations you've always made, in support of CCSVI research and testing. We're not getting a lot of support from the big names, yet almost all of the 2000 patients who were treated for CCSVI (and the thousands more on waiting lists, like me), believe there is something huge to this.
Best regards,
